248. Nanea continued

I was sent an email by American Girl for Nanea, and this video of the making of Nanea was attached.

and a screenshot of the video paused on Nanea's market.
of course I'm curious but I don't think I'm interested enough to purchase.

I've read somewhere Nanea is releasing to everyone on the 21st, yay 2 days to go.

Reasons why Nanea interests me:
new doll
she is Hawaiian - the only part of the US I've been to so far
the only place I wanted to go to, since I was 16 (I'm now 44)
got to go to Oahu in 2014 funded by the sale of my Barbie collection
American Girl had a popup store in Oahu at the time I went!
new doll
she is gorgeous

247. SOS Saving Outfit Shoes.

A few weeks ago
62.1.
Unfortunately despite my verbal request 62.1 arrived with permanent underwear. She is gorgeous but not what I had asked for. It was feeling a bit like Jess mold 54 all over again (the AG website on my mobile at the time showed her with an Ivy mold, but the AG staff couldn't see that, and couldn't do anything about it, long story short Whynta stayed and 12 months later Cadence 54 Ivy mold came via eBay).
I posted on instagram and a reader suggested calling AG anyway...
And most likely due to the uproar over the permanent underwear...
Two weeks later, with packing slip instructions
62.2
I've yet to officially name her.

So why the title?
This is the new current Truly Me Doll Meet outfit.

Some which came before...
Left to right: 2002 Go anywhere outfit; 2012 True spirit outfit; 2017 truly me outfit; 2010 real me outfit; 2015 Lilac Dress; 2004 Ready for Fun outfit.
The most impressive being, in my opinion, the 2004 Ready for Fun Outfit (the year being when each replaced its predecessor). It included sneakers with stripey socks, jeans with beautiful embroidery, a white tshirt with floral emblem on front and a gorgeous hooded jacket.
This years outfit is a close second when the accessories set is added.
A jumper (sweater), tights, headband, purse, mobile phone with cover and changeable screens, some money a library card and AG gift card, all doll sized.

And all was well until someone mentioned, "What's that smell?"
"Oh I'm so embarrassed," 62.2 cried. "It's my foot odour!"
"Well no wonder," Trinity exclaimed. "Full plastic shoes drowning in glitter!" Poor 62.2 s feet were sweating.

Trinity: I know, I'll ring Tzeitel. She's an expert in shoes. Did you know she's related to Rebecca Rubin, and shoes run in her family.

Here she comes with her magic shoe box.
62.2: how is it magic?
Tzeitel: it's a lot bigger on the inside than it appears.

ASOSOS, a selection of suitable outfit savers.

The glittery pair at the top of the screen are they of the outfit in discussion. They do make similar style shoes with canvas uppers, They being doll shoe makers. I have two pairs in white belonging to Bridget and Bryndl (Grace twins). I'm not a fan of huge glumps of glitter, either,  but maybe it would have been ok on canvas uppers?

ASOASOSOS, A sampling of a selection of suitable outfit savers....
Barefoot
White canvas Mary Janes
Sandals
Roller skates

Formal zip up boots

And ugg boots.
Phew, outfit saved.

246. Create Your Own.

I had a go at the Create Your Own American Girl online experience....for some reason the photo I took doesn't want to load.
try again

Sarie Leicester
Face: number 5 (addy mold)
Fair skintone, freckles, blue eyes, long straight red hair with bangs
Outfit: Smile and matching accessories and glasses. Ears pierced.

If I can work out how to get back in I'd like to try fair skintone Sonali with red hair, like the promo doll; a dark skintone classic a Jess and an Addy ooh and josefina, medium jess, I like the jess with medium wavy hair with bangs, and well you need each outfit and accessory set at least once, and ......
But first and foremost
Nanea
2 weeks to go.
Berry and Gold VIP members so far have Nanea her pjs hula outfit puppy and meet accessories. agoverseasfan (Aussie you tuber) posted the hula accessories set this morning, that looked cool.
I'm still undecided as to her collection, but will aim for Nanea at least.

245. That customising bug again.

At the time of purchase I think I was unaware of the options of the rumored Create Your own AG line other than wigs.
I think it was April that I set my eye to obtaining a medium skin toned classic mold doll.
As much as I like to buy directly from AG itself it takes a lot of Will power to save up for the initial cost, the shipping and the exchange rate (the latter two being unpredictable), then the ringing up and actually talking to a human and getting the time zone right (5 in the morning my times usually good) and the product numbers and I get nervous and sweaty and therefore eBay is such a more convenient market place for me.
Anywho so I consulted eBay for said skin tone and my second attempt successfully saw the arrival of a preloved My American Girl #29.

This is her current Truly Me version.

She came with part of the Real Me meet outfit, picture and information courtesy of American Girl wiki, so presumed she was up to 7 years old.

Available 2010-2012.

This is, so far, DJ (Deeanna-Jayne) she has had a couple of name changes.
Unfortunately her wig was really dry and I'm not really a fan of layered hair. I found with this one it didn't feel like there was much hair there. The other thing that was bothering me was that I didn't think she suited having her hair colour so closely matching her skin tone.
So I went wig hunting on eBay. I'm not yet convinced of loving or liking rainbow coloured hair for my own personal doll collection, but I did want to give her new do something more than just one tone, certainly something with a darker base than her skin tone.
There was one wig I was contemplating that had a "berry drizzle" through it but it's base colour was too light.
The wig I had obtained for my Julie, Llewellyn, came from an ebay listing that included options for quite a few colours, so I ventured back there. I confess that the price was under $20 AUD with shipping and so if I didn't like it I hadn't spent my Nanea fund getting it.

The cameras not picking up the colours but I like it. First glance it could be dark brown with brown and gold highlights. Second glance I think the highlights are purple and fluorescent yellow, and look at those curls, bet they won't last long.
I'm off to find my glue.

The Create Your Own is due out the next day or so. I'm not sure if it's available to us overseasians, I might have to move, or feel safe with an international address. I think Australia Post has something like that. I hope they will at least sell the outfits and accessories separate to a doll, but first priority will be Nanea.

244. Nanea's collection so far.

On the American Girl website via the AG rewards link

I'm hoping I can order at least Nanea the doll at the end of the month.
