96. A Big Day Out.

A plaque commemorating a post used to plan out roads.

Found it(?)

Just beyond the post, lucky it was there you wouldn't want the road to go too much further.

James fletcher, he's been standing on this lot so long he's turned white from the salty air (or just made from white stone). He was involved in the Newcastle coal mines in the 1800's. He now has a park, a hospital for mental health, a suburb and a historic house out in his suburb ruined by a private school.

Newcastle Beach.

Race you to the water

Waiting for a wave

And waiting

How about we go up the beach to where the lifesavers flags are

First we need to put our cozzies on. Cecile has hers

In the bag

Brrr, it's cold

Maybe if we wait back here

Hats on.

Some gruesome finds...

Cooling off in a rock pool, when the waves/tide is low enough rock pools are great.

This is a great big paddling pool. The tiles on the bottom are supposed to have a map of the world on it, but it's always covered with sand.

Next stop...

Nobbys. An island joined to the mainland by a breakwall, to help protect the harbour, to create Nobbys Beach and ship stopper reef. (Pasha Bulker 2007).
